Two women look at a train and dream of escaping on it: to the future where its carriages are headed and to the past, to where the smoke billows back. Perhaps we can make them turn towards us and recount their lives, as well as something about that real train which seems phantasmagorical and about the four houses dotted about the countryside, the hill, the parapet, the sky…
Art and literature lecture series: Writers look at the Carmen Thyssen Collection
Works of art recount stories and tell us much about their era and their creators, bringing us closer to the experience discovered by each artist. Works are guardians of memory and once they have entered a museum and lose their original context, our task is to return them to their own period and to rediscover the story behind their origins, recreating the moment and the circumstances in which they were created.
